For content needs, the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus are equipped with three rear cameras consisting of a 50 MP main camera, a 10 MP telephoto camera, and a 12 MP ultrawide camera. On the front of the two phones there is a 10 MP selfie camera.

The Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus feature SpaceZoom at up to 30x magnification. To support photography activities, Samsung embeds tetra-binning technology on the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus. Tetra-binning technology allows the 50 MP camera on the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus to combine every four pixels in the photo into one with the same goal as the non-binning earlier, which is to improve the quality of the photo.

That way, the final photo will have a resolution of 12.5 MP (50 divided by 4) with great detail and dynamic range. In addition, the file size of photos with this resolution will also be much smaller than photos that have a real 50 MP resolution. This pixel merging technology itself will be enabled by default for automatic camera mode.

To support night photography activities, or shooting in low light conditions, Samsung also presents the Nightography feature on the Galaxy S22 Series. This feature relies on the technology of merging many photos into one (multi-frame stacking), so that the final photo is claimed to be bright and with minimal noise, even if taken at night.

In addition to Nightography, the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus cameras are equipped with the Portrait Mode feature that relies on AI Stereo Depth Map technology. With this AI technology, facial or portrait photos taken, either using the main camera or selfies, are claimed to have a pretty neat blur effect (bokeh).
