“Requests have already been received for the return of more than 500 foreign-made aircraft,” he said.
The head of the Russian Ministry of Transport also said that the government should decide on the purchase of aircraft from foreign lessors worth $20 billion. According to him, airlines have so far unsuccessfully tried to negotiate on this issue.
“The company’s leasing payments must continue to be paid, but lessors do not want to sell aircraft to us,” the minister said.

Savelyev noted that a way out of the situation should be found before March 28, when, in fact, the default of the airlines will take place.
In total, 1367 aircraft are operated in Russia. Of these, 739 are registered in foreign registries. Foreign lessors own 515 aircraft. Russia has lost 78 aircraft that were arrested abroad due to sanctions.
