Paris 2024 wants to sell ten million tickets

The organizers of the next Summer Olympics, Paris 2024, have set a high target for tickets sold. Ten million tickets are to be sold for the summer games alone, which would be a record. A further 3.4 million tickets are to be sold for the subsequent Paralympics. London 2012 offered just under nine million tickets and sold around 8.2 million, Atlanta 1996 sold 8.3 of eleven million tickets.

“This is a uniquely high ticket circulation,” said Paris 2024 boss Tony Estanguet. “It’s ambitious. We believe that the Paris 2024 games will be unique.” The proceeds from tickets represent a third of the total income, so it is really important to get the most out of it. The cheapest Olympic tickets will be available from 24 euros, with the Paralympics starting at 15 euros.

Ticket registration starts at the end of the year

“We wanted a ticket program starting at 24 euros for each sport, over a million tickets are sold at this price,” explained Estanguet. Half of all tickets will cost less than 50 euros. The registration process will begin at the end of the year, and the actual sale is scheduled to start in February 2023 after an earlier draw (excessive demand is expected).

No decision has yet been made regarding a possible registration exclusion for Russia and Belarus after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. “We still have time to decide,” said Estanguet.
