Travel to New York City has been possible again since November 2021. With the beginning of spring, the desire to rediscover the “Big Apple” increases. There are new, breathtaking viewing platforms, new galleries and cultural events to be visited, and also new accommodation options that should delight discerning travelers. Because the previous luxury top dogs Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, St. Regis, Peninsula, Conrad, Equinox or The Pierre have new competition in the form of the Aman New York. It’s been a long time since a hotel opening in New York City has been so eagerly awaited.
Actually, the opening would have been planned for 2020, but then, as is well known, the pandemic came. The new opening date is now scheduled for May 2022. The Aman New York will be the third hotel of the luxury chain Aman Resorts (which incidentally has its headquarters in Baar ZG) in the USA, but the first in a city. Until now, Aman was better known for its idyllic houses in remote places. But now you’re going “full urban”, and of course in the best location: The Aman New York is at 730 Fifth Avenue, i.e. on New York’s posh street, two blocks north of the Peninsula and only two blocks from the southeastern edge of Central Park . Opposite is Trump Tower, next to world-class shops such as Louis Vuitton Fifth Avenue and the Apple Store Fifth Avenue. But why leave the house anyway? On the lower three floors of the building there are Bulgari, Ermenegildo Zegna, Mikimoto and Piaget shops.
The new hotel will offer 83 rooms and suites, ranging in size from 70 square meters, spread across five floors of the historic Crown Building (formerly the Museum of Modern Art). There are also 22 ultra-luxe condominiums, the world’s first urban “Aman Residences,” offering up to six bedrooms — and reportedly selling for up to $34 million. All rooms offer intimacy and comfort, each with an open fireplace, and combine the historic architecture of the skyscraper from the 1920s with the Asian heritage of the Aman brand.
The hotel’s windows and patios overlook boutique-lined Fifth Avenue and/or Central Park! Dining highlights include the garden terrace and bar offering 1,000 square meters of al fresco dining, an underground jazz club, a wine room called «Wine Library» and two restaurants: Arva, a top-class Italian restaurant, and Nama – Aman’s interpretation of the Japanese Washoku food tradition.
And then there’s the spa: Aman is bringing its spa concept to New York, on three floors and with a total area of 2,300 square meters. The Wellness Center includes three consultation, examination, and therapy rooms, seven spa treatment suites, and two banya and hammam spa houses designed for half-day or full-day treatments. Each spa house has its own private outdoor relaxation deck with hot and cold plunge pools. Other spa facilities include a boutique and lounge, as well as a 60-meter indoor pool outfitted with two-person day beds and even fire pits. The Aman Fitness Center will feature the latest Technogym training equipment, while the yoga studio will be complemented by a hydrotherapy facility with saunas, steam rooms, ice fountains and sensory showers. A hairdresser and a hair and nail salon will offer professional grooming and other beauty services.
Residence owners will have a private entrance to the Aman Spa, as well as access to 24/7 lifestyle management and concierge services, restaurant service at key restaurants and lifetime membership to the Aman Club.
