The international short film festival “2Annas” will take place in April The news

Riga, March 22, LETA. The 26th Riga International Short Film Festival “2Annas” will take place from April 8 to April 14, the representative of the festival Agnese Krastkalne informed LETA.

The “Cannabis Culture Center”, the “KSuns” cinema and online will offer competition and focus short film programs, competitions, parties, professional meetings and discussions, while the opening performance of the festival will take place at the Museum of Anatomy.

Krastkalne noted that a person is at the center of this year’s festival program. During the festival, discussions and films will explore how human life has transformed in the age of technology, and seek answers to the question of what modern man is, what is the role of humanity today.

In response to the current situation, curators Olga Gusiatinskaya and Sasha Shamanina from the Kiev International Short Film Festival will present the program “Focus on Ukraine” – short films by Ukrainian directors that reflect on the events of recent years in Ukraine and abroad.

In total, 2,000 films from all over the world were submitted to the festival this year. The program of the international competition will feature the winner of the Grand Prix of the Tampere International Short Film Festival, the documentary “Granny’s Sexual Life” from Slovenia, as well as other award-winning and lesser-known and experimental works.

Many Latvian filmmakers will take part in the Baltic Short Film Competition this year – Ildze Felsberga, Elza Gauja, Rasa Pavilona, ​​Emīls Mihailovs, Emīls Alps and others, but the medium-length competition program “2Annas” will continue to introduce the audience to films that are not accepted by most world festivals.

Children and young people will be offered the opportunity not only to watch the screenings, but also to become a jury themselves. Ron Rosenberg, a Swiss film and theater teacher and artist, will invite the youngest film lovers to think about friendship, caring, overcoming their fears and the future of the planet.

The industry day center has chosen such a topical topic as mental health in the film industry. Professionals and film students will be asked to understand and find out what the current situation is, what the reasons are and if any action is needed.

The winners of the competition will be presented with the sculptures “Anna” created by Aigars Zemītis this year. The winners of the Baltic competition will receive a prize from BBrental and BBposthaus for the rental of filming equipment or the opportunity to post-process films worth 2,000 euros.
