The new function works simply via the camera tab, Twitter shows in – how could it be otherwise – a GIF on Twitter. It is not clear whether and when this option can also be used on Android.
You click on the camera icon and select ‘GIF’. After that, you can record a short video, which can be posted to Twitter as an animated GIF.
It is the latest in a series of features that Twitter has recently announced to further modernize the app. For example, it has recently become possible to give a tweet a ‘thumbs down’. Other users don’t get to see that score, but Twitter can use the feedback from such a thumbs up to adjust the platform.
It is now also possible to provide photos and videos with a warning for sensitive images. Other things are still in the testing phase, such as the possibility to remove yourself from a thread so that you are not always tagged in new comments.
