The first asparagus was harvested on the fields in southern Breisgau. This means that the harvest in the region around Freiburg will start a little earlier this season than last year. The reason is the mild temperatures, but of course also the use of foil, without which the vegetables could not be harvested so early. The Association of Southern German Asparagus and Strawberry Farmers (VSSE) assumes that there will be a sufficient quantity on the market by Easter. But the persistent drought could affect the asparagus.
