Every day travelers are victims of pickpocketing at train stations. A pickpocket was caught red-handed by the federal police at Freiburg’s main train station. He now faces criminal prosecution.
On Sunday morning (March 20th, 2022) a traveler who was waiting on the platform at Freiburg Central Station was the victim of a pickpocket. A 33-year-old German national simply took the backpack that the waiting person placed behind a bench. The traveler noticed the theft a short time later and began pursuing the fugitive. He managed to snatch the stolen goods from the man. The pickpocket was caught and arrested on the platform after a short pursuit by a federal police patrol who was present. He is now facing criminal proceedings on suspicion of theft.
In this context, the Federal Police warns “Pay attention to your valuables”. Together with the prevention team of DB AG, the federal police on 13./14. April 2022, in the main train station in Freiburg im Breisgau, a joint campaign about the actions of pickpockets. The campaign aims to sensitize visitors and travelers and show them how important it is to be careful with the valuables they bring with them.
