Liputan6.com, Jakarta A new study shows diet tall protein can cause serious health problems in men.
Reported from FoxNews, Researchers assume that consuming too much protein and too little carbohydrates can have a negative effect on men’s testosterone and cortisol.
Nutritionists Joseph Whittaker and Miranda Harris, the study’s authors, published their study in Nutrition and Health, an academic journal.
The researchers compared results between participants, specifically adult men, who were on a high-carbohydrate diet and those who participated in a low-carb diet. In a low-carb diet, the lost calories are replaced with protein.
For this study, a high protein diet was defined as a diet in which more than 35% of calories came from protein. A diet consisting of less than 35% protein is considered a moderate protein diet.
