The homeland vaccinea drug against COVID-19 made by Mexico, invited Mexicans to participate as volunteers in the booster phase two clinical study.
The National Council for Science and Technology (Conacyt), who coordinates this project developed by the private laboratory Avimex, explained that only people who have a complete vaccination schedule can participate.
Candidates or participants will receive benefits such as medical monitoring of general health status and regular COVID-19 diagnoses throughout the clinical study.
The Conacyt highlighted that the phase one clinical study showed that the vaccine is safe and capable of inducing the production of antibodies and stimulating the cellular immune response.
“Homeland” was the name chosen for the vaccine by the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obradorreferring to the famous work of the poet Ramon lopez velarde. The purpose of the federal president was not to depend on other countries to protect the population from the coronavirus.
The initial objective was for the dose against the coronavirus to be ready by the end of 2021 and for Mexico to thus become the second country in Latin America, after Cuba, to develop its own vaccine. However, the vaccine is still a project.
