JawaPos.com – In 2020, Apple made a controversial decision, namely to remove the adapter device aka the charger head from the iPhone 12 sales box or package. Because of this, all iPhones sold on the market no longer get a charger head.
The move is claimed by Apple as an effort to reduce damage to the environment. At the same time, the loss of the charger also makes the iPhone box smaller and reduces the burden on logistics costs.
However, instead of playing a role in saving the environment, many people consider Apple’s efforts to be a trick to increase profits. This is because in the end Apple did sell the charger device separately. And the price is not cheap either.
according to Daily Mail, by removing the charger and EarPods from the box, Apple has saved a total of USD 6.5 billion or equivalent to Rp. 93 trillion more. Analysts said this figure was obtained from the loss of chargers and earpods from the iPhone box coupled with the savings in logistics costs due to the smaller packaging.
However, cleverly again, Apple doesn’t lower the price of its handsets when it comes to removing accessories from the iPhone box. At the same time, many iPhone buyers looking to charge their phones quickly are forced to spend USD 19 or around Rp. 270 thousand for a 20 Watt charger. This figure is the same for replacing EarPods.
Analysts rate, by reducing the size of the box, should be able to make Apple reduce shipping costs by up to 40 percent. This allows the company to reduce the price of the device to consumers.
