The family of the late musician John Lawton scattered his dust on Kamen Bryag, said the former longtime mayor of Kavarna Tsonko Tsonev.
“Today to the Eternal Flame in Kamen Bryag, the dust of John Lawton was scattered. This was done by Iris, Natalia and Patrick, his wife and children. John loved Bulgaria and remains forever in our hearts,” Tsonev wrote on his Facebook profile.
The rock legend, former vocalist of the band Uriah Heep, died suddenly at the age of 74 on June 29 last year, reminds BGNES.
John Lawton often visited Bulgaria. For years, he was the main actor in the concerts to welcome the first July sunrise on Kamen Bryag or Kavarna. He is an honorary citizen of Burgas.
“July Morning” or in short July (after the famous song of Uriah Heep from 1971 “July Morning”) is the most traditional hippie holiday in Bulgaria, which originated in the mid-80s of last century.
With Uriah Heep, Lawton recorded the albums “Innocent Victim”, “Firefly”, “Fallen Angel” and “Live ’79”.
