Shock for ex-Bundesliga star Nelson Valdez: gangsters wanted to kidnap a family member!

San Joaquin (Paraguay) – Lucky for former soccer star Nelson Haedo Valdez (38)! A gang of gangsters was targeting one of his family members in his home country of Paraguay, wanting to kidnap him and extort $100,000 for ransom.

This is reported by national media such as “The nation” and “ABC‘ agreed. However, the National Police arrested the five criminals before they could put their evil plan into action.
They were being monitored and thanks to secret service information, they were prevented from carrying out the first part of their criminal act.
The men apparently wanted to storm the police station in San Joaquin in all seriousness in a white Toyota Runx, capture it, eliminate the officers and then drive to Valdez’s house to carry out the hostage situation.

However, the cops arrested them on the way, according to a video made by Paraguayan journalist Ivan Leguizamon that has been doing the rounds on Twitter.
The security forces confiscated countless items: handguns and long guns, balaclavas, crow’s feet and radios.
For Valdez, the news of the foiled crime was a relief. The former Bundesliga striker, who is currently in Germany, told ABC: “Thank God everyone is fine. That’s the most important thing.”

For investigative and security reasons, the name of the family member who was supposed to be abducted is not given.
But those of the criminals who are anything but unknown in the border area around the cities of San Joaquin and Vaqueria in the department of Caaguazu and who are said to have already committed several crimes.
According to “La Nacion” they had some serious robberies on their books and were also linked to the sexual abuse of children. They’re just part of a larger gang.

There are a total of ten other people in this group who are still at large. Therefore, the Valdez family can count themselves lucky that the perfidious plan did not become reality.
The ex-professional himself should not have expected such an action. After all, the striker legend only officially ended his career last summer.
Valdez previously had for the SV Werder Bremen (113 appearances, 30 goals, 14 assists), Borussia Dortmund (126/18/20) and Eintracht Frankfurt (11/1) in the Bundesliga 77 caps (13 goals) for Paraguay and 25 caps (five goals, four assists) in the Champions League.
