The official weigh-in from Los Angeles
Golden Boy Promotions can finally move on to fight night taking place tonight at the USC Galen Center in Los Angeles, California, USA.
This weekend’s DAZN show saw several changes, with the main fight and co-feature bouts swapping places after designated main contender, welterweight Vergil Ortiz Jr. (18-0-0, 18KO victories). had to pull out of his fight after being hospitalized a week ago. Dominating now are the other welterweights: Alexis Rocha (18-1-0, 12 KO’s) and Blair ‘The Flair’ Cobbs (15-0-1, 10 KO’s), who will compete at the ‘Galen Center of USC’ on Saturday night meet in Los Angeles in a ten-round bout.
Santa Ana, California native Alexis Rocha tipped the scales at the exact welterweight limit at yesterday’s official weigh-in at 150 pounds before looking to continue his winning streak tonight in the main event. Philadelphia native Blair ‘The Flair’ Cobbs – who now lives in Las Vegas and trains at Hollywood’s Wild Card Boxing Club – weighed 150 pounds.
Both fighters wanted to verbally attack each other during the press conference before the fight on Thursday and also almost actively on Friday afternoon at the official weigh-in. But little more than words were exchanged as the two were immediately separated by security.
The fight advanced to the main event after Ortiz was pulled out of his scheduled 12-round welterweight bout with England’s Michael McKinson. The aftermath made for a frustrating week of fights for McKinson as this is his third scheduled opponent to miss just before the fight.
