The Carolina Hurricanes lost 4-3 to the Washington Capitals after a penalty shootout. The Boston Bruins won the away game at the Winnipeg Jets 4-2.
1-0 after overtime was the score between the Buffalo Sabers and the Calgary Flames, with Tage Thompson scoring the goal of the day. The Anaheim Ducks lost 3-0 in their home game to the Florida Panthers.
