Formed in professional mode since the beginning of 2021, the duo Def & Rita, made up of two young singers from Nancy, will open for Kendji Girac on March 10 during the inaugural concert of the Palestra in Chaumont.
They still have a little trouble believing it.
The Nancy duo Def & Ritawhich formed in early 2021, has barely released its debut single, that it’s already going “make” the first concert part of Kendji Girac. It will be during the inaugural evening of the brand new hall The gym in Chaumont (Haute-Marne) on March 10, 2022 at 8 p.m.
And even if they have been singing together, for fun, for nearly three years, it has only been a year since they went pro.
On January 4, 2022, they released their very first single “When your arms hold me tight“. (Available on all good listening platforms), which has met with great success on the networks.
And quickly, the duo, composed of Alexis Defraire, alias Def and Ghitta Sekkat, alias Rita, begins to gain its little notoriety.
After the single, the clip and after the clip, two more singles to come, being recorded. Release planned before the summer of 2022. Then it will be the turn of their first EP of five to six songs, during October 2022. The local media (including France 3 in the program Ensemble c’est Mieux of January 4, during the chronicle of Didier Ohmer) are beginning to talk about them, even to receive them while they animate their own networks, like any self-respecting artist.
But from there to imagine that they were going to do the first part of Kendji Girac! It only took the persuasiveness of one of their producers, Christophe Freyssac. Who contacted Kendji Girac’s production team and convinced him to give Def & Rita a chance when the gypsy music star came to Chaumont. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. He tried, well done.
The duo will play a set of 20 to 25 minutes, during which the singers will perform five songs including four compositions; and a cover of the Moroccan group’s hit Babylon “Zina”which Rita, 25, sings in Arabic.
