TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Redmi has officially launched Redmi K50 and the Redmi K50 Pro in China on March 17, 2022. Both models are part of the K50 series which already has the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition launched in early February.
Gizmochina reports the Vanilla Redmi K50 is powered by a MediaTek processor Dimension 8100 which is built on TSMC’s 5nm process. This processor recorded an AnTuTu score of over 850,0000 which makes it a powerful chipset.
The device is also equipped with LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 flash storage, further enhancing its performance. Redmi K50 Pro The high-end emerges as the world’s first smartphone to pack the flagship Dimensity 9000 SoC and also features LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 flash storage.
The display is the highlight of the K50 series as both models pack a 6.67-inch Samsung flexible AMOLED display with 2K 3200 x 1440 pixels resolution. That display also supports a 120Hz refresh rate, 526 PPI, and a peak brightness of 1200nits.
The display also supports full DC dimming, 16,000-level automatic brightness adjustment, ambient color temperature sensing, super resolution touch, Dolby Vision, AI HDR technology, and more.
The screen is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Victus which is 1.5 times better than the previous Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Scratch-resistant performance is up to twice that of Glass 5.
The K50 Pro loses the under-display fingerprint sensor but packs a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. For optics, the Redmi K50 Pro packs a 100-megapixel Samsung S5KHM2 ultra-clear triple camera setup.
The camera is equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS) which will greatly affect the handheld shooting capabilities. This flagship phone also features support for electronic image stabilization during video recording to reduce the impact of hand stability during recording.
The main camera is teamed up with a 2MP macro lens and an 8MP 119° ultra-wide lens. The 100MP main sensor is replaced by the 48MP main camera on the K50 while retaining the other features of the K50 Pro.
For selfies, there is a 20-megapixel Sony IMX596 sensor on the K50 and K50 Pro which provides more adequate image data for self-portraits.
To get the full capabilities of the powerful chipset, Redmi K50 and K50 Pro come with the latest cooling system technology. This includes the new stainless steel VC with a total area of 3950mm².
The steel VC adopts a T-shaped design that covers 72 percent of the motherboard. These Redmi models are also equipped with other heat dissipation materials – 7 layers of graphite, copper sheeting and thermal paste, forming a 3D exhaust system to support the best performance of both devices.
In terms of battery life, the Redmi K50 Pro packs a 5,000mAh battery and comes with the self-developed 4:1 Surge P1. The device has support for 120W fast charging which can charge it from zero to full in just 19 minutes. The Redmi K50 comes with a larger 5,500mAh battery with 67W charging but that doesn’t affect the thickness.
The Redmi K50 Pro is priced starting from RMB 2,999 (Rp 6.7 million) for the 8GB+128GB version while the Redmi K50 8GB+128GB version starts from RMB 2,399 (Rp 5.4 million). The model comes in four colors, Black, Silver, Iridescent, and Green.
