Will the dreamed conquest of Netflix at the Oscars? will it become Dune in the film with the most nominations and without a statuette? will he be mocked again Will Smith without his golden award?

On Sunday, March 27, the new delivery of the Oscars will take place, awards granted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Until that long-awaited day arrives, I invite you to play a little. I present to you my predictions on who will be some of the big winners and losers of the night. Why “losers”? Well, to make it more fun. Let’s get started!

Best film

Winner: The Power of the Dog. An almost perfect film. It has everything to win: Great performances, both detailed and intense scenes, captivating music, etc. Loser: Dune. It could have been his night, but the Oscars and sci-fi are in the sweaty little hands phase. Don’t even think about kissing each other yet!

Best Male Performance

Ganador: Benedict Cumberbatch, en The Power of the Dog. He steals every scene he’s in. His look, his tense jaw and his movements perfectly interpret Phil, a character about whom everything she could love is already in the past. Loser: Will Smith, in King Richard. Although he improves a lot in dramatic acting, his face is still a slight deviation from his classic one.”sad bastard face”. It would have been great to say, “Oscar winner Will Smith dances with the Wolf and rides a tuc tuc.”

Best female performance

Winner: Olivia Colman, in The Lost Daughter. Her lost gaze, her disoriented movements and her fits of emotion are touching. Loser: Kristen Stewart, in Spencer. Experts say that she took the place in the nominations from Lady Gaga. The god of show business justice will not forgive her.

best director

Winner: Jane Campion, for The Power of the Dog. On Netflix there is a 20-minute documentary in which Campion explains how she approached the shooting and performances of this film. Highly recommended. Loser: Denis Villeneuve, by Dune. Villeneuve wasn’t even nominated in this category. It boils me up for yelling at the Academy, “Hey, do you think a wonderful sci-fi drama blockbuster just runs itself?”

Best animated film

Winner: Charm, from Walt Disney Pictures. In international boxing, if you fight the number one and you want to take the championship belt from him, you have to knock him out. If both finish the fight on their feet, the judges instantly decide that the winner remains the champion. The same happens in this category. To take the throne away from Disney/Pixar, it has to be a groundbreaking animated film to the max. This year I don’t think there was one like that.

Loser: The Mitchells vs The Machines, from Netflix. Very funny and all, but the voters will sing “No se puede de Bruno”.

And your forecasts for the Oscars 2022, what are they?
