The French Blood Establishment and the Rotary clubs of Gironde invite Bordeaux residents to a major blood drive to be held from March 31 to April 1 at the Palais de la Bourse. The objective is to mobilize 1,500 people.

Animations will be set up throughout the event. Bordeaux Open Air will notably offer an open stage on the Place de la Bourse with many artists such as Lia Moon, Bast, Rémy Laborde, Bast, Tastycool, Downtown Hounds or even Lafable and Liferty. Sets offered by DJs from Bordeaux Open Air will also liven up the Place de la Bourse during the two fundraising days. Dance shows will be to be discovered, they will be carried by the godmother, Vanessa Feuillatte, 1st dancer of the National Opera of Bordeaux. Also, note the possibility of meeting Ambre Andrieu, Miss Aquitaine 2021 and the UBB players.
The inauguration from the “My Blood For Others” collection will take place on Thursday, March 31 at 11:00 a.m. in the Salon Bleu of the Palais de la Bourse.
10,000 blood donations are needed every day to meet patient needs, including 1,000 for New Aquitaine alone. Some suffer from a blood disease (sickle cell disease, thalassemia, leukemia, etc.), an immune system disease, or even cancers, requiring regular blood transfusions or blood-derived drugs. Others have a more specific but vital need (hemorrhage during childbirth, surgery, accident victims, etc.). The level of sampling must therefore be regular and constant to ensure self-sufficiency because the lifespan of blood products is limited: 7 days for platelets, 42 days for red blood cells.
