Scientists Turns Out to Have Found SpongeBob and Patrick in the Real World

JAKARTA – Scientists have discovered SpongeBob and Patrick in real life. It happened in July 2021. NOAA released a cute photo of two best friends SpongeBob Squarepants and Patrick Star which are side by side on the seabed.

This image of a square yellow sponge and pink five-pointed starfish was taken by ROV on July 27, at a depth of 1,885 meters during the Retriever Seamount expedition off the coast of Retriever Seamount, New England.

“The sponge belongs to the genus Hertwigia and the starfish genus Chondraster,” says Christopher Mah, a marine biologist at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History.

However, Christopher says that the Species is unclear, and could even be new to science.
