Jakarta –
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan spoke about the Online Single Submission (OSS) licensing system, which he said was still lacking. Even so, Luhut understands that OSS still has many shortcomings.
That’s because according to him OSS is a big project, it can’t just be perfect. But so far, from his observations the OSS system has been very helpful for small business permits.
“Regarding OSS, I think OSS is a super big job. So indeed there are still problems here and there, but their success story for the MSME scale is no problem. If it’s a big one, it requires another big collaboration,” said he Luhut at the grand launching of the BKPM Sustainable Investment Offer at the Fairmont Hotel, South Jakarta, Thursday (17/3/2022).
According to him, OSS does need various improvements. He even mentioned that the current problems in OSS, if handled by Steve Jobs or Bill Gates, would not necessarily be resolved. He mentioned that even if he had to wake these two figures from their graves, the OSS problem would not necessarily be over.
“So we still need improvements for the future again. The term from our team said something like this to me: tell Steve Jobs to wake up again from his grave with Bill Gates to complete OSS in a day it won’t be finished, it won’t be finished in a week,” said Luhut.
The problem is big, he said, for digital map infrastructure in districts/cities only 56 units are available, even though 2,000 units are needed. According to him, things like this should be resolved gradually.
“We have to boost that. If it is finished, gradually everything is done, we will be even more great going forward. I think in two years or a year and a half we will be able to perfect it all,” said Luhut.
“So if there are complaints from friends at OSS, nothing is wrong,” he concluded.
