Biden’s remarks immediately sparked a strong reaction from the Kremlin. “Our president is a very wise, broad-minded and cultural international figure, as well as the head of the Russian Federation, our head of state,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said when asked about Biden’s remarks. .

“Such statements by Mr Biden are completely unacceptable, unacceptable and inexcusable,” Peskov said. “The main thing is that a head of state who has been bombing people around the world for years, the president of such a country has no right to make such statements,” he continued.

Peskov said the US had bombed Japan in 1945, destroying the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Japan surrendered six days later, ending the Second World War. About 200,000 people were killed instantly by the bombs and many more died of radiation sickness.
