The architect Pedro Torrijos and the art historian Sara Rubayo talk about architecture and art at the BRMU – Murcia – San Javier

The Murcia Regional Library (BRMU) hosts this Friday, March 18, the second session of the cycle ‘Cinemarq2: the architecture of evil’, a cycle focused on architecture, comics, cinema and fashion, analyzing these areas in relation to the supervillains of cinema and comics. The cycle is co-organized by the architect Helia de San Nicolás and the BRMU.

Architect and popularizer Pedro Torrijos will talk about the creepy house of terror that Dr. Henry Howards Holmes built in Chicago at the end of the 19th century. One of the most terrifying cases that are remembered about architecture designed to exercise evil. Next, Sara Rubayo, art historian and social networker, will analyze the art that appears associated with supervillains in comics and movies. Rubayo will raise questions such as what art hangs in the villains’ mansions?; Are the superheroes more of impressionism and the villains of contemporary art?

The afternoon will be completed with a talk by the architect Carlos Pérez Armenteros, from the Terrapilar company, about the real cost of rebuilding the property destruction caused by the fights between superheroes and supervillains.

The writer, cultural critic and architect Pedro Torrijos, author of ‘Improbable Territories’, published in 2021, has become a reference in social networks and written media in his work to disseminate architecture.

The art historian Sara Rubayo, currently in the team of the cultural program of RTVE 2 ‘The flux capacitor’, has just published her book ‘pintorAs’ in which she reviews the biographies of different female painters. Ella rubayo creates quality content, disseminating, with a fresh and fun tone, the history of art on social networks, where she accumulates thousands of followers. She collaborates in written media such as ‘Infolibre’.

The ‘Cinemarq2’ cycle will continue on Friday, March 25 with figures such as the illustrators Fernando Dagnino, Salva Espín, Miguel Herráiz or the youtuber Bamf. The cycle will conclude on Thursday, March 31, with the designer María Escoté, who, presented by the designer Constanza Mas, will analyze the outfits of the supervillains, relating them to the latest fashion trends.
