Freiburg (AP) – Ex-coach Volker Finke trusts SC Freiburg this season of the Bundesliga to qualify for the Champions League for the first time. “This year is particularly good. That gives you the opportunity to get into the top four,” said the 73-year-old from the German Press Agency and does not expect SC to lose performance: “I think they’re at least in place five or six will definitely come in. If you have a bit of luck or if you score a few more goals in the last and penultimate minutes, the Champions League is possible.”
Before the game at the bottom of the table SpVgg Greuther Fürth on Saturday (3.30 p.m. / Sky), coach Christian Streich’s Badeners are fifth, tied with fourth-placed RB Leipzig. Finke is not surprised by the successful performance of the Breisgauer. “You were able to keep the team together well last year and had few departures,” he said and praised Streich: “Christian exhausts himself emotionally in every game, which convinces the players. I hope that there will be more years in the composition. “
Streich has been the coach of SC Freiburg for more than ten years and recently renewed his contract again. Finke coached the Baden team for 16 years between 1991 and 2007. “He can easily do that,” Finke replied when asked if Streich could catch up with him.
