The Burgas District Court has remanded in custody 22-year-old Kiril Petrov, who stabbed his colleague in the head after a student party on the night of March 14.

22-year-old Pavlina V. is still in serious condition in the intensive care unit of UMHAT Burgas. She underwent several surgeries, and a blood donation campaign was organized in the city, to which dozens of people responded.

Kiril Petrov has been charged with attempted murder and faces 10 to 20 years in prison if convicted.

He asked the court for a lighter measure of detention, but magistrates said that all the evidence gathered at this stage justifies the assumption of the authorship of the act for which the young man is accused. It was also stated that due to the high degree of public danger of the act there is a risk that the accused will abscond and commit another crime if he is at large.

22-year-old Kiril Petrov has criminal records for hooliganism, and in one of the cases he was shot with a gas pistol, showing unjustified aggression, the court reminded.

On the night of March 14, he attacked his college colleague with a knife, stabbing her first in the chest and then stabbing the blade to the handle in the girl’s head. The motives for the attack are still being clarified. The perpetrator was found to have consumed alcohol. The bloody drama took place in the apartment of the victim in the center of Burgas, where she lived with her 27-year-old sister.
