Igor Rajev, a military analyst and Colonel in the National Armed Forces, answers TV24’s question on how Russia might view Ukraine’s neighbor Moldova – or whether it has a military threat.
“No, most likely the other way around – the Russian troops stationed in Transnistria and also the troops of its republic – they are, in principle, a threat to Odessa,” Rajev said. Thus, the movement of forces from Transnistria is another potential direction of attack that the Russian army can use to start a war in the south of Ukraine.
The Transnistrian Republic of Transnistria is an internationally unrecognized, Russian-backed separatist republic in eastern Moldova bordering Ukraine.
Every evening at 19 TV24 broadcasts the development of the situation in Ukraine explained by military analyst and reserve colonel of the National Armed Forces Igor Rajev!
