Ski jumper Ptáčková ended her career at the age of 19

“I’m still not able to sacrifice the sport as much as it would take,” Ptáčková wrote in a photo showing how her fourteen-year connection with the bridges began. “Fourteen beautiful years during which ski jumping has shaped me. I have always been and will be a part of my life.”

“I have decided to give priority to my health, both physical and mental,” explained the bronze medal at the 2020 Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, adding: “And that those hard days were. Sometimes it really hurt so much – and especially the newer wounds will hurt for a while. But someone wiser than me said that pain is the sister of love, that’s why it must be.”

Ptáčková follows Viktor Polášek, who announced the end of his career eight days ago. The former junior world champion identified mental and physical exhaustion and loss of motivation as reasons for, among other things.
