The epidemiologist, Keneth Rodríguez, explained that until March 12, it was recorded that one and a half million Hondurans had not applied any dose of any of the vaccines against COVID-19.
He also warned that, with the arrival of Holy Week, a new wave of infections may come due to the relaxation of the population.
Similarly, the deputy of the National Congress (CN), Carlos Umaña, stated that the numbers of vaccinated are very low and thus it will be very difficult to end the pandemic.
“According to Unitec’s COVID-19 observatory, it shows us an alarmingly low number of vaccinated with a two-dose schedule and worse with three, so we will never get out of this nightmare,” he said through his Twitter account.
Umaña, expressed that it is possible that this week a law decree will be discussed to approve the compulsory use of the vaccination card.
“It depends on you or we all collaborate or we all mess up, I think that next week Congress will discuss the mandatory carrying of the vaccination card,” he added.
At the same time, he recommended that the Ministry of Health (Sesal) search for those who are not vaccinated and those who do not complete their schedule.
“Do more daily tests and locate where they are from and intervene in the area to prevent COVID-19 outbreaks. Requirement of a vaccination card with security mechanisms to avoid massive event fraud”, she expressed.
The health authorities highlight that they have applied more than 11 million vaccines against the coronavirus, five million for the first dose and four for the second, according to statistics from the Expanded Program on Immunizations (EPI).
