Design halal logo The new Halal Product Assurance Administration Agency (BPJPH) of the Ministry of Religion has received the spotlight. The Ministry of Religion denies that the new halal logo is Java-centric.
“The choice of a halal label that uses the Gunungan wayang and lurik batik media is not correct if it is said to be Java-centric,” said the Head of the Halal Certification Registration Center at the Ministry of Religion’s BPJPH, Mastuki, in a statement, Monday (14/3/2022).
Mastuki then explained three things regarding the shape of the new halal logo that was highlighted. First, according to him, wayang and batik have become Indonesian heritage that is recognized by the world. Including Unesco as a human heritage for non-material culture (intangible heritage of humanity).
“Wayang was established in 2003, while batik was established six years later, namely in 2009. Therefore, both batik and wayang are representations of Indonesian culture originating from traditions, cultural crosses, and the results of civilizations that developed in the archipelago,” he continued.
Mastuki explained that the determination of the new Indonesian halal label had been carried out for a long time and involved a number of experts. The Ministry of Religion in this case BPJPH has considered many things before deciding on a new halal logo.
“This distinction is not of different origin, but the difference that characterizes Indonesia, as well as connecting Indonesia and Islam. Both have been integrated into our civilization for hundreds of years, so the use of elements of form and color elements of the culture that developed in Indonesia is very important. legal and accountable,” he explained.
Third, Mastuki explained that gunungan wayang is not only used in Java. This tradition is closely related to other cultures outside Java. Mastuki gives examples of Balinese Puppets and Sasak Puppets.
“The puppet show that developed in Sunda also uses gunungan,” he said.
