What is the program about?
The program Empire State Fellows is a full-time leadership training program that prepares the next generation of talented professionals for careers as New York State legislators.
Participation in the work of New York State Government is at the heart of the program Empire State Fellows. The Governor’s Office will appoint each Empire State Fellow to work directly with a Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, or other senior legislator in a New York State agency or authority, or in the Executive House. Work assignments offer fellows unparalleled experience collaborating with senior officials and participating in the policy-making process.

Letters of recommendation must be submitted by April 4 or within one week of submitting your online application).

Additional requirements:
- Candidates must be eligible to work in New York State without employer sponsorship.
- Candidates must be available to work in Albany, New York for the entire two-year program.
- Current executive and legislative branch employees of New York State do not qualify for the program Empire State Fellows.
