The Disciplinary Board of the Portuguese Football Federation announced, this Monday, the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against Fernando Tavares, Benfica’s vice-president for the modalities.
In question are statements by the manager after the defeat in the futsal League Cup final, with Sporting, on the 27th of February.
“What happened here was a real shame, a joke. A refereeing team without any kind of quality”, said Fernando Tavares at the time, reinforcing the criticism: “It will be very difficult to take this team down, unless there is another robbery like the one that happened here today.”
According to the statement from the Disciplinary Board, the initiation of the disciplinary process follows the disciplinary participation made by the Portuguese Association of Football Referees and by the Arbitration Council of the Portuguese Football Federation.
