Polfeldt has worked for Massive for 17 years, and announced last year that he was stepping down as CEO, but had intended to return after some six months’ leave of absence in some form of role in Massive or the parent company Ubisoft.
But now he has submitted his resignation, according to the newsletter. What he will invent is unclear.
Massive is behind the multiplayer series “The division”, and is now working partly on an “Avatar” game and partly a “Star wars” game. Last year, the studio had about 700 employees.
– I think that my philosophy and skills work well for a certain group type with a certain size. I do not think I’m the right person to lead what the studio has become. And I am completely satisfied with that, says Polfeldt in the newsletter.
