Following the shootings of homeless people in their sleep in New York City and Washington DC, in which three have died so far, Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara reported Sunday night that Newark Police crews and workers from the Newark Homeless Assistance Department The city will warn homeless residents about the recent attacks.
“Starting tonight, police will brief homeless Newark residents about the recent separate attacks on the homeless in New York City and Washington DC,” said Director O’Hara. “Our goal, along with the city’s homeless workers, is to get them off the streets and help them shelter for safety.”
Suspect in attacks on three Manhattan homeless men this weekend, two of them fatal, is the same suspect linked to three attacks on homeless people in Washington DC earlier this month, one of which also killed , according to the Police Departments of both cities.
In all the attacks the homeless people were asleep.
