Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the situation surrounding Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea.
Following the uncertainty surrounding the London club, some believe United could make a bold move for the German manager.
Former Liverpool player Jaimie Carragher has urged United to take advantage of the situation, calling it a “no-brainer”.
“United can provide you with the security and support that all senior managers need,” he said.
“Yes, it will seem like a predatory move, taking advantage of the Chelsea crisis, but from United’s and Tuchel’s point of view, the more you think about it, the more obvious it is.
“He is the only manager in England who comes close to the same class as Pep Guardiola and Jürgen Klopp. »
During his pre-game press conference against Tottenham, Rangnick was asked if Tuchel would be a viable option for United, to which he replied:
“There is no point in thinking or speculating about it. »
“Yes, Thomas Tuchel is a great coach, yes, I know him well, yes, he was one of my players, yes, he took his first coaching job in Stuttgart when I was the head coach. »
“He is the manager of Chelsea at the moment. They are third and are still in the Champions League.
“Now there are problems around the ownership of this club, (so) to speculate that he is a candidate for the job here this summer does not make sense. »
Despite the blatant dismissal of the rumours, The Daily Mail claim that they secretly believe Tuchel could be an option for United this summer.
Tuchel worked with Rangnick in Ulm and Stuttgart, and the two had a good working relationship.
The German is a proven winner and would immediately transform United’s identity on the pitch.
If the crisis at Chelsea worsens, United should do everything they can to bring him to Old Trafford.
