The features offered also vary, according to the price and the intended target market.
With so many types of smartphones on the market, market research firm Counterpoint Research also released a report on the list of the 10 best-selling smartphones in the world in 2021.
According to the report, there will be more than 4,200 active smartphone models in the world by 2021.

According to Counterpoint research, iPhone will be the world’s best-selling mobile phone brand for 2021. Out of 10 types best selling smartphone in the world, seven of them are iPhones.
In a report entitled Top 10 Best-selling Smartphones 2021, Apple dominates with the iPhone 11, iPhone 12 series, and iPhone 13 series.
The best-selling smartphone in the world in 2021 is the regular version of the iPhone 12 with an overall market share of 2.9 percent.
Apart from Apple, there are only three types of cellphones from other brands that have made it into the list of the 10 best-selling smartphones in the world in 2021.
The three phones apart from the iPhone are the Samsung Galaxy A12, Xiaomi Redmi 9, and Xiaomi Redmi 9A.

As reported KOMPAS.com On Friday (11/3/2022), the following is a list of the 10 best-selling smartphones in the world in 2021 according to Counterpoint Research.
1. Apple iPhone 12: 2.9 percent
2. Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max: 2,2 persen
3. Apple iPhone 13: 2.1 percent
4. Apple iPhone 12 Pro: 2.1 percent
5. Apple iPhone 11: 2 percent
6. Samsung Galaxy A12: 2 percent
7. Xiaomi Redmi 9A: 1.9 percent
8. Apple iPhone SE 2020: 1.6 percent
9. Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max: 1,3 persen
10. Xiaomi Redmi 9: 1.1 percent
3 types of iPhone contribute 41 percent to Apple’s total sales
Apple made a positive achievement with the presence of seven types of iPhone which were named the best-selling smartphones in the world in 2021.
Especially with the inclusion of the iPhone 13 series in the list even though it was only released in the third quarter (September) 2021.

According to Counterpoint, the iPhone 13 series was received positively by the market, thus becoming Apple’s best-selling product in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Counterpoint revealed that the top three iPhone models in the list of the top 10 best-selling smartphones in the world in 2021, contributed 41 percent to Apple’s overall cell phone sales.
Meanwhile, Samsung ranks the Galaxy A12 as one of the best-selling smartphones in the world in 2021 with a market share of 2 percent.
Counterpoint said the highest demand for Samsung’s entry-level phones came from several regions, such as North America, Latin America and Western Europe.
According to Counterpoint, the Galaxy A12 is selling well because it has good camera specifications, a variety of memory options, a large battery, and a longer software support period.

Counterpoint predicts that the successor to the A12, namely the Galaxy A13 (5G), which was released at the end of December 2021, will also sell well in the market.
In the list there are also two entry-level Xiaomi phone models, namely the Redmi 9A in rank 7 and Redmi 9 in the last position.
The two types of smartphones, according to a Counterpoint report, contributed to 22 percent of Xiaomi’s total cell phone sales.
