On Friday, patients hospitalized in intensive care positive for Covid-19 numbered 177 in Belgium, a figure down 18% in one week.
A total of 1,933 people positive for Covid-19 were hospitalized (-6%) on Friday, according to data updated by Sciensano on Saturday morning.
During the period from March 5 to March 11, nearly 144.6 hospital admissions on average were recorded each day due to coronavirus, an increase of 9% compared to the previous reference period.
Between March 2 and 8, 7,250 new Sars-CoV-2 contaminations were detected on average per day, an increase of 24% compared to the previous week. But a smaller number of screening tests were also carried out daily: an average of 33,961 tests were thus carried out, a decline of 4%. The positivity rate is 23%.
During the same period, 18.3 people died per day on average from the virus (-14%), bringing the death toll to 30,408 since the start of the pandemic in Belgium two years ago.
The reproduction rate of the virus stands at 1.02. When it is greater than 1, this indicator means that the epidemic tends to progress.
