COVID-19 Omicron is able to evade antibodies that can cause infection even in people who have been vaccinated. Researchers saw at least 8 symptoms that are commonly felt.
In a study published in the journal Eurosurveillance, the most common Omicron symptoms experienced by vaccinated individuals were:
- Cough
- Runny nose
- Fatigue
- Sore throat
- Headache
- Muscle ache
- Fever
- Sneeze
Researchers think the symptoms that tend to be mild may arise because of the protective effect of the vaccine. So even if someone is infected, the symptoms are milder when compared to people who are not or have not been vaccinated.
If a person experiences two of the eight common symptoms, it is advisable to have an examination because it could be infected with Omicron.
Omicron in Unvaccinated People
The Chair of the Infection Working Group for the Central Management of the Indonesian Lung Doctors Association (PDPI), Dr. Erlina Burhan, SpP(K), explained that for people who have not been vaccinated, the symptoms of Omicron can become more severe and are at risk of death. He emphasized that this applies especially to vulnerable groups, such as the elderly or people with comorbidities.
“Mild applies to people whose immunity is good and has been vaccinated. But it does not apply to people who have not been vaccinated or are elderly. Moreover, they are elderly, have not been vaccinated, have many comorbidities. This is something we must be aware of,” said Dr. Erlina some time ago. .
