After the good point win in the capital, the next home game is waiting for FC Luzern on Sunday. Table neighbor GC is a guest in the swissporarena. And on Saturday, SC Kriens meets FC Vaduz away in the Rheinpark.
FCL receives GC
the initial situation
Three wins and just one loss from the last six games. Mario Frick’s team is in good form at the moment. After the good result in Bern, we want to do more on Sunday and keep scoring.
The opponent
The guest from Zurich got off to a less than optimal start in the second half of the season. The last three games were lost, overall there was only one win this calendar year. However, this team should not be taken lightly, because in the preliminary round they proved that the potential is there without a doubt.
The last game against GC
We last met the Grasshopper Club Zurich in mid-December. In the Letzigrund we drew 1:1 after GC took the lead early on and we were able to equalize late on through Nikola Cumic.
The staff
Thoma Monney (torn cruciate ligament) and Pasci Schürpf (persistent knee problems) will still be out. Martin Frydek trained with the team again this week and should be ready to play again on Sunday. The game may be too soon for Dejan Sorgic, who is suffering from a thigh strain.
Note: FC Luzern – GC Zurich, Sunday, March 13, 2022, 4:30 p.m., Allmend Stadium.
Kriens as a guest at FC Vaduz
Nobody really wants to commit themselves in this league. Apart from us. The race for the promotion places is open as seldom. Even the apparently escaped leader Aarau is within reach again after the defeat against Schaffhausen.
And our opponent from the weekend is happily involved in this league-wide scramble for first and second place. Vaduz found its way back to winning ways just in time last weekend after two defeats in a row. 4:2 success against Neuenburg Xamax and only one point is missing to Barrageplatz.
So far, our duels with the Liechtensteiners have been a clear thing. Plus minus. Vaduz won 4:1 and 3:1 in the previous clashes. But in December it was a tight squeeze. We remember: Vaduz lead, Vaduz sent off, Lino Lang equalized, break, then two Rapps, ice cold. It should finally work for us on Saturday. A sense of achievement, it would do our boys so good. Always unsuccessful “close” is almost unbearable in the long run (even for a match preview writer).
We played the narrow defeat against Thun this week on the pitch with lots of sunshine, hopefully from the body and especially from the head. Not quite maybe, but still enough to score points against Vaduz.
Elia Alessandrini, Diogo Costa and Aziz Binous stay home injured. Liridon Mulaj too, but he’s banned. Otherwise everyone is there, the game is live in the stadium or on the screen for free on blue. All together. Come on Kriens.
Note: FC Vaduz – SC Kriens, Saturday, March 12, 2022, 6:00 p.m., Rheinpark.
