KOMPAS.com – Doctor SU’s name became a topic of discussion on Twitter after he was shot dead by Densus 88 or the Special Detachment 88 Anti-Terror of the Indonesian National Police.

Reported by Kompas.com (10/3/2022), SU was shot dead for allegedly being a terrorist in Sukoharjo, Central Java.

Shooting to thwart escape

SU was shot dead by Densus 88 on Wednesday (9/3/2022) night at around 21.00 WIB in Gayam Village, Sukoharjo District, for trying to escape.

At that time, he tried to escape using a private car.

The 54-year-old doctor even hit the fence of a resident’s house in Sugihan Village, Bendosari District, Sukoharjo and damaged it.

According to reports, two members of Densus 88 were also injured while trying to arrest them, because the suspected terrorist tried to ram the vehicle being driven into the officers.

A doctor and active in social activities

The chairman of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Sukoharjo Arif Budi Satria confirmed the suspected terrorist’s profession as a doctor.

Arif also said that SU opened his practice at his home in Gayam, Sukoharjo District, and at the Ulul Albab Islamic Boarding School.

“That’s right, he is still an active general practitioner,” said Arief.

Arief added that SU has been a member of IDI since graduating from medical education from Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta.

He is also active in social activities and treats patients for free.

“He practices for social services, many of which are free of charge. If it’s (free treatment) each individual’s social activities. These (humanitarian) activities were not reported to us,” said Arif.

Allegedly part of terrorism

Head of the Public Information Bureau of the Public Relations Division of the National Police (Karo Penmas) Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan said that SU was suspected of serving as deputy for da’wah and information, as well as advice to the Amir of terrorist groups. Jemaah Islamiyah (SHOW UP).

He is also allegedly in charge of the Hilal Ahmar Society Indonesia (HASI), which is the wing of the JI organization in the humanitarian field.

HASI itself often recruits and sends JI members to Syria to fight and collects donations from the public to finance the trips of JI members to Syria.

Privately closed and never present at citizen activities

The head of the RT where the suspected terrorist lives, Bambang Pujiana Eka Warsono, said that the SU practice area was not too crowded with patients.

Bambang further explained that the SU doctor was famous for his stocky stature and used a cane to walk.

Bambang admits that SU is also a person who rarely socializes with local residents.

The family will take legal action

SU’s family will take legal action against Densus 88 who shot SU to death.

This is because the family believes that the suspected terrorist is not involved in a terrorist network.

“What is clear is that we regret the attitude of law enforcement which then led to violence, let alone shooting dead. There should be coercive measures, or legal remedies that are paralyzing. It’s not deadly,” said the Endro family representative Kompas.com (10/3/2022).
