Entering the last year of his contract with Benfica – he ends in July 2023 -, Grimaldo, a 26-year-old left-back, has been one of the most coveted red assets and the Italian press advances that Juventus also has him on the list of potential targets for the reopening of the market next summer.
The echo of the interest of Juventus joins the already known special interest of Barcelona, where Grimaldo trained and still has admirers, among them the coach of the Catalans, Xavi Hérnandez.
On the table is still the possibility of Grimaldo renewing with Benfica, but the full-back already has a very high salary and the Reds may not be able to offer him much more, not least because the order in Luz is to reduce the salary sheet of the squad and not to increase it.
Anyway, Grimaldo has already made it known that he feels good and has opened the door to negotiation. However, to SAD it may be more interesting to sell the athlete’s pass already in the summer, taking into account that he will enter the last year of the contract and a future exit at zero cost may be at stake. Grimaldo has a €60 M termination clause, but it seems logical that there is receptivity to proposals between €15/20 M.
