Security Council (DK) United Nations (UN) will hold an urgent meeting on Friday (11/3) local time, in the middle of Russian military invasion of Ukraine which continues. The impromptu meeting will discuss the accusations Russia about the development of biological weapons in Ukraine.
As reported AFPFriday (11/3/2022), this emergency meeting was proposed by Russia which on Thursday (10/3) local time accused United States of America (USA) funds research for the development of biological weapons in Ukraine. Russia is known to have launched an invasion of Ukraine since February 24.
Both the US and Ukraine have denied Russia’s accusations, denying the existence of laboratories that Russia accuses of being used to produce biological weapons in Ukraine.
The US said in a statement that the allegations indicated that Russia itself could soon use such weapons in its invasion of Ukraine.
Western countries accuse Russia of using the ruse of accusing its enemies and the US of developing biological and chemical weapons to provide a basis for the use of such weapons in Ukraine — the same thing Russia has accused Russia of in the Syrian conflict.
In monthly meetings DK PBB discussing the use of chemical weapons in Syria, both the US and the UK raised the situation in Ukraine.
“The Russian Federation has repeatedly disseminated misinformation regarding the use of chemical weapons in Syria,” said U.S. Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations Richard Mills.
