MUI Deputy Anwar Abbas made an open letter to NU residents to Rais Aam PBNU Miftachul Akhyar remains in double the position of General Chairman of MUI. What did NU say about Anwar Abbas’ request?
PBNU Secretary General Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul said that Miftachul Akhyar’s resignation had been discussed at the PBNU meeting. Miftachul Akhyar, said Gus Ipul, submitted his resignation from the MUI in front of the syuriah and tanfidziyah of PBNU.
“Kyai Miftah’s resignation has been conveyed at a joint meeting of syuriah and tanfidziyah,” said Gus Ipul to reporters, Thursday (10/3/2022).
He did not explain in detail whether NU would allow Miftachul Akhyar to double the position as requested by Anwar Abbas or not.
Anwar Abbas’s Open Letter
Miftachul Akhyar submitted his resignation from the position of General Chairperson of MUI. MUI Deputy Anwar Abbas then wrote an open letter to NU residents so that Miftachul Akhyar could continue to hold concurrent positions.
“Frankly, we need Mr. KH Miftachul Akhyar to be our leader,” said Anwar as quoted in a written statement, Thursday (10/3).
Anwar Abbas sent a message to NU residents. He admitted that it would not be a problem if Miftachul Akhyar could not work full time at MUI.
“Therefore, to the leadership and residents of NU we want to convey that we want him to continue to be our leader. If he can’t work full time at MUI because he has to take care of NU, we hope that he will let the remaining time he give to take care of NU. We are at MUI,” said Anwar.
