NEW YORK, UNITED STATES – 2022/01/14: Some protesters blocked roadway on 3rd Avenue. About 150 protesters gathered at NYPL (New York Public Library) on 5th Avenue and walked to the governor’s office on 3rd Avenue demanding continuation of moratorium on housing eviction. Moratorium on eviction was started in March 2020 as a result as many people lost their income because of COVID-19 pandemic and were not able to pay their rent or mortgage. It is set to expire in New York State on January 15, 2022. New York State does not have money to help tenants and/or landlords and the situation for some people is very dire, they could become homeless.
