Forty-eight hours later, they did it again. After their hat-trick signed during the second stage, Team Jumbo-Visma offered themselves a new pass of three. And this time, everything was decided against the clock during the time trial of the 4th stage of Paris-Nice, leading from Domérat to Montluçon.
At the end of a perfectly managed 13.4km race, Wout van Aert won on Wednesday ahead of his teammates Primoz Roglic (+2″) and Rohan Dennis (+6″). First Frenchman, Pierre Latour (TotalEnergies) finished 7th in this time trial with a delay of 19″ on the winner of the day.
This second success of the season for the Belgian, after Het Nieuwsblad, also allows him to steal the leader’s yellow jersey from his teammate Christophe Laporte. Wout van Aert now has a 10″ lead in the general classification over Primoz Roglic and 28″ over Laporte, 11th in the stage, 29″ from the lead. From now on, the riders will turn to bigger percentages with, from Thursday, a 5th stage in the middle mountains between Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert and Saint-Sauveur-de-Montagut.
