President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially inaugurated the Head of the State Capital Authority (IKN) Nusantara today, Thursday (10/3/2022). The inauguration was held at the State Palace, Central Jakarta.
Jokowi inaugurated Bambang Susantono as Head of the Archipelago IKN Authority and Dhony Rahajoe as Deputy Head of the IKN Authority.
“Are you ready to be sworn in according to Islam?” open Jokowi before driving to the department’s oath reading which was answered “ready” by Bambang and Dhony.
Then Jokowi asked Bambang and Dhony to follow and repeat the words of the oath of office read by Jokowi.
“For God’s sake, I swear that I will fulfill my obligations as the Head and Deputy Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority in the best and fairest way, adhere to the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia in 1945, and carry out all laws and regulations properly- straightforward and devoted to the community, the homeland, and the nation, “said Bambang and Dhony.
The figure of Bambang and Dhony
Bambang Susantono himself is not new to the government. He briefly served as Deputy Minister of Transportation in the United Indonesia Cabinet II for the 2010-2014 period.
The man who was born on November 4, 1963 is a talented person for infrastructure and transportation planning. Bambang also served as Deputy to the Coordinating Minister for the Economy for the Coordination of Infrastructure and Regional Development in 2007-2010.
Furthermore, Bambang has also held the position of General Chairperson of the Indonesian Transportation Society (MTI). This graduate of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) initially worked at the Department of Public Works. In 1996 he earned a master’s degree in urban and territorial planning at the University of California, Berkeley.
After no longer serving as Deputy Minister of Transportation, he focused on a career abroad. He is trusted to serve as Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). He is responsible for running sustainable development and climate change to economic research and regional cooperation.
At ADB, Bambang also oversees the development of ADB’s flagship publications and reports on Asian development indicators, the Asian development outlook and economic indicators. Bambang’s position at ADB replaces Bindu Lohani, who has entered retirement.
ADB assesses that Bambang has a long experience as an academic, and previously also provided input on government policies, the private sector, and various international organizations.
Bambang has also served as Vice President of the East Asia Society of Transportation Studies (EASTS).
Meanwhile, Dhony is the Managing Director of the President Office of Sinar Mas Land. Sinar Mas Land’s BSD City is indeed set as a model by the government in building IKN Nusantara.
Minister of State Secretary Pratikno and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono on December 31, 2021 then visited BSD City directly to conduct a comparative study.
“We are honored to receive a visit from a number of Ministers of the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet regarding the government’s plan for the development of IKN in East Kalimantan. Hopefully our experience in developing the BSD City area can be an inspiration for the government to develop IKN,” said Dhony at the time quoted from a press release in Jakarta. Regarding the IKN comparative study, Jokowi has also made a working visit to BSD City on December 24, 2021. The former governor of DKI Jakarta is said to be very interested in the application of the concept of a green district, green building, and green office as well as a mall without walls, The Breeze, which is located in the BSD Green Office Park area.
So, it is not surprising that Jokowi finally reviewed Dhony as Deputy Head of the IKN Authority, accompanying Bambang Susantono.
