Two weeks already Russia pounding Ukraine until Thursday (10/3). Despite the ceasefire for the evacuation of residents in some cities, Russia still attacked civilian facilities at other points and claimed many lives.
The following summarizes the current situation in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
1. UN: 516 civilians killed in Russian military aggression against Ukraine
The office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) recorded at least 516 civilians have died since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The death toll rose by 42 from the day before.
In the quoted statement CNNWednesday (9/3), OHCHR also reported that 908 civilians were injured.
OHCHR estimates the true toll is likely to be “much higher”, especially in government-controlled areas as many reports are still awaiting confirmation.
2. 17 People Injured Due to Russian Attack on Mariupol Maternity Hospital
At least 17 people were injured in a Russian air strike on a maternity and children’s hospital in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol, Wednesday (9/3).
“So far 17 hospital personnel have been injured,” Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the southeastern Donetsk region, said in a video posted on Facebook. AFP.
So far, no children have been injured and no deaths.
The attack came shortly after the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that war with Russia could trigger a health crisis in Ukraine.
At least 18 verified attacks on health care facilities, ambulances and medical personnel. This series resulted in a total of 10 deaths and 16 injuries.
3. Russia-Ukraine Agree to Open 6 Humanitarian Corridors for Evacuation
Ukraine and Russia agreed to a ceasefire on Wednesday (9/3) at 09.00 am to 21.00 local time, while opening six humanitarian corridors to evacuate civilians.
Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Iryna Vereshchuk, said that the two countries agreed to the ceasefire for the safety of their citizens.
As long as gunfire stops, six routes will be opened so that residents can be evacuated to safer places. The six routes are from Enerhodar, Sumy, Mariupol, Volnovakha, Raisins, and Kyiv.
