This screening can be an effort to find various non-communicable diseases (PTM) early, including kidney disorders which can lead to kidney failure if found too late and do not get proper treatment.

“Early detection starts at the age of 15. Early detection in the community is through activities at the Integrated Development Post (Posbindu). This activity aims to detect early risk diseases from chronic kidney disease, including hypertension, diabetes and obesity,” said Elvieda in a virtual press conference, Wednesday.

Screening includes interviews related to risk factors for non-communicable diseases for self and family, measurement of weight, height and abdominal circumference, to determine body mass index (BMI) and the presence or absence of a tendency towards central obesity, blood sugar and blood pressure checks.

Furthermore, there will be identification of risk factors for non-communicable diseases, providing education and follow-up in the form of referrals to First Level Health Facilities (FKTP) if indications of risk factors are found.

The government through the Ministry of Health is currently carrying out a health transformation, one of the pillars of which is improving primary health services by focusing on promotive and preventive efforts.

The target population is those who are healthy and at risk. For those who are healthy, i.e., do not have symptoms of the disease, health promotion efforts are carried out to stay healthy and do not fall into the category of the population at risk.

Meanwhile, in populations who are already at risk, primary prevention is carried out through early detection of both risk factors and disease so that disease is expected to be overcome. In people with the disease, it is strived to be treated so that the disease does not become more severe.

“The diseases that underlie chronic kidney disease are hypertension and diabetes. Health services for hypertension and diabetes patients, which also start from early detection to control so that patients are actively taking treatment so that their blood pressure and blood sugar are controlled so they don’t go into complications,” said Elvieda who targeting local governments to be able to perform this service 100 percent.

In addition to health screening, he also advised the public to adopt a healthy lifestyle so that they are not exposed to non-communicable diseases including kidney disease, diabetes, hypertension and obesity, among others by following a balanced diet to reduce risk, doing physical activity safely, avoiding smoking and alcoholic beverages. .

Currently, Indonesia is still facing health challenges related to non-communicable diseases. The number of this disease since 2010 began to increase, among others due to diet, parenting, movement patterns and eating patterns such as high calories, low fiber, high salt, high sugar and high fat, said the Director of Health Promotion and Community Empowerment of the Ministry of Health, dr. . Imran Agus Nurali, Sp. knockout.

According to Imran, this behavior is also followed by a sedentary lifestyle, choosing food junk food or fast food, lack of physical activity, stress and lack of rest that triggers hypertension, diabetes, obesity, cancer, heart disease and hypercholesterolemia.
