“If triglyceride levels are too high, these substances can build up in the liver. This is at the root of fatty liver disease. The liver can’t work properly and can’t remove cholesterol from the blood, so the effect is that cholesterol levels increase.”

Drinks containing alcohol can cause a combination of high triglyceride levels along with low HDL cholesterol. Conditions like this can lead to heart disease.

Although it has a negative effect on cholesterol in the body, it doesn’t mean you can’t drink alcohol at all. Limit consumption and accompany it with a healthy lifestyle.

The National Health Service (NHS) in the UK recommends drinking alcohol for adults. In a week at least consume a maximum of 14 glasses. If excessive then various negative effects will be felt by the body.
