Mexico applies 278,282 new doses of COVID vaccines; 183.9 million go – El Financiero

The Ministry of Health reported that this Tuesday, March 8, they applied 278 thousand 282 new vaccines, leaving the total doses applied at 183 million 907 thousand 915 so far, while it is estimated that 87 percent of the population in the country has at least one dose.

There are 85 million 351 thousand 315 Mexicans vaccinated so farof which it is estimated that 79 million 157 thousand 988 have the complete vaccination scheme, being the equivalent of 93 percent of the vaccinated people.

On the other hand, 6 million 193 thousand 328 people are vaccinated in a new scheme, which represents 7 percent of the population.


It is estimated that the total number of elderly people in our country is 89 million 484 thousand 507 of which 80 million 614 thousand 851 have at least one dosewhich represents 90 percent of Mexicans in this age group.

While the age group from 14 to 17 years old is 8 million 894 thousand 016 people; however, only 4 million 736 thousand 464 have at least one vaccine, which represents 53 percent of vaccinated Mexican minors.

The state with the majority of its population over 18 years of age vaccinated with at least one dose is CDMX with 100 percent, while Chiapas is the state with the lowest population vaccinated so far with 71 percent. The state of Quintana Roo is the second with more doses applied with 99 percent.

There are 220 million 511 thousand 035 total doses received since December 23, 2020. This week Mexico is expected to receive 3 million 208 thousand doses from AstraZeneca.


Today a total of 111 thousand 281 doses were considered lost, for not being applied.

Of the 5 million 852 thousand 350 cases of COVID that Mexico has had, 4 million 863 thousand 376 people have recovered while 320 thousand 166 have died.
