warn cites unnamed sources who are familiar with what was said at the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in Moscow on Saturday.
The Russian proposal was considered “difficult, but not impossible,” according to sources. It is worse than what Zelensky would have received before the invasion, but there should not be a very large distance between the parties. Putin allegedly ordered a ceasefire pending Zelensky’s decision.

The Ukrainian president must be divided in his view on the proposal. It involves the loss of the Donbas region, neutrality and an end to the dream of NATO membership, and a shrinking of the military. At the same time, a possible refusal will apparently lead to continued war with the consequences it will have for the people of Ukraine.
Bennett’s trip to Moscow should not have been an attempt to mediate between the parties, but rather to get an impression of where Putin stood, and report back to Western leaders. According to the anonymous sources, the real negotiations will take place directly between Russia and Ukraine, and be far more serious than what is reported externally.
